Southern Surrealism–Lisa Shinault

Lisa Shinault takes the idolized view of women and shatter it, then by cutting and stitching she creates an offbeat and sometimes bizarre depiction of women. Then in contrast with the eccentric exhibit of women, fish shines like jewels. As she said she likes to depict fish because they are like cats or dogs. Her work deals with the struggle of everyday life, where we toss ideas ans objects together to come out winning. Lisa Shinault combines carefully thought out images to uncover that what is real.

See her work at Blue Mark Studios Gallery from November 12012 to January 31 2013.
